The Center for Collaborative Arts and Media is pleased to welcome Stephanie Riggs as a part of our Fall 2017 Visiting Artist Lecture Series. Riggs has been recognized by the BBC and Al Jazeera as a virtual reality pioneer. With a background in both theatrical narrative and computer science, she began creating interactive virtual worlds two decades ago and continues to revolutionize the immersive technology industry. SIGGRAPH recently invited her to present on VR topics such as “Creating Digital Societies in VR” and “Using Human-Computer Interaction to Tell Better Immersive Stories”. Select Select Immersive Work: First feature film on the Oculus Rift (2014); First person invited to film a US President in 360 (Obama, 2015); 2015 World Record for simultaneous VR experience attendees; “Kanju,” (World Premiere: Tribeca); Digital Society VR Interface (SIGGRAPH); “Monet in Giverny” (InceptionVR); “Angst:A Panic Attack” (IndieFlixVR). Stephanie is a Phi Beta Kappa and Andrew Carnegie Scholar graduate of Carnegie Mellon University’s School of Drama (Directing) and School of Computer Science (Human-Computer Interaction).

Riggs will be presenting her lecture “The End of StoryTelling: What Classical Story Techniques to Embrace and Abandon in Immersive Technology” at the CCAM.
