The exhibition “Drink That You May Live”: Ancient Glass from the Yale University Art Gallery draws its title from an inscription commonly found on vessels made for ancient banquets. Join us for a festival that explores the evolution of glassmaking for functional and ceremonial purposes. The evening includes discussion in the galleries, readings, food, and drink. Sara E. Cole, Ph.D. 2015, Curatorial Assistant, Antiquities Department, J. Paul Getty Museum, Los Angeles, and former Graduate Curatorial Intern, Department of Ancient Art, Yale University Art Gallery, is joined by Carolyn Laferrière, Postdoctoral Associate in Ancient and Premodern Cultures and Civilization at ARCHAIA: Yale Program for the Study of Ancient and Premodern Cultures and Civilizations, and Jessica Lamont, Visiting Assistant Professor of Classics. Presented in conjunction with the exhibition “Drink That You May Live”: Ancient Glass from the Yale University Art Gallery.
