The Film Colloquium presents the director’s cut of ALIEN (Ridley Scott, 1979) on 35mm, print courtesy of the Yale Film Archive. This film is shown as part of the Colloquium’s “Spaced Out: Outer Space and Altered States” series.

In the nearly forty years since its initial release, ALIEN has become a classic, giving rise to a number of sequels, novels, comic books, and other related productions. This film also launched the career of Sigourney Weaver, who stars as Warrant Officer Ripley. Though slightly shorter than the original cut of the film, this version includes many alternate scenes not included in the 1970 film.

Event is free and open to all.

Funding for The Yale Film Colloquium is provided by the History of Art Department, Yale School of Art, the European Studies Council at Yale, the Film Study Center (courtesy of Paul L. Joskow), Films at the Whitney (supported by the Barbakow Fund for Innovative Film Programs at Yale), and the Dean’s Fund for Student Colloquia.
