Graduate School Orientation Begins for all new degree-seeking students by coming to the McDougal Center to check-in in person. New GSAS students are required to check in Monday Aug 21 at the Room 119 in the McDougal Graduate Center with “one-stop” service for Orientation checkin and Yale ID cards. Graduate School Orientation events will begin officially on August 21, with some pre-orientation socials and tours during the weekend of Aug. 18-20.

All new degree-seeking students are required to check-in with the Graduate School on August 21.

Late- check in Aug 22-30: If you can not check in August 21, late check in will be available at the Registrar’s office, 246 Church street, weekdays from Aug 22-30. If you expect to be late for Aug. 21 check-in for some reason, please email mcdougal.center@yale.edu to request permission.

*If you are an official “early start” student and you already have your ID and have done your I-9 form, you may stop by Check-in to get your Yale GSAS Orientation nametag and lanyard.

At GSAS Check-in, as a new Graduate School student you are required to complete a Federal Form I-9 at before you can receive your Yale student ID. We provide Form I-9 at check-in at HGS, but you must bring original, unexpired documents as listed on the link. Please note that you can either bring one document from List A – OR – one document each from List B and List C.

International students selecting from List A should bring Form I-94, I-20 or DS-2019 along with the passport.

At the McDougal Center, once you complete the I-9 process and if you do not have any registration holds (health, transcripts), you will get your Yale ID. Then you move on to get your Orientation nametag, brief printed schedule, map, and some other materials. If you need to clear up an ID or health or transcript hold, we will inform you how to do that, and provide services at HGS to assist you. GSAS Staff will be available to answer all questions as needed.

Spouses are welcome to attend with the student, but spouse affiliate IDs are not available until mid-September.
