The story of Fannie Lou Hamer and the fight for voting rights is not unique, not singular. On the contrary, as we look down the ages at social justice struggles, we see a number of Fannie Lou Hamers who stood up for what was right and fair and just. It was a privilege for me to create the musical Fannie Lou. To be able to combine art, history and education within this orginal musical was not only an enjoyable experience for me, it made for an enjoyable, engaging and enlightening evening for our audience members.
